Common name in German:
Dipteronie

Family:

Origin:
China

Description:

Rarely offered small tree from Central-China, with decorative, large, composite leaves and thin, rounded fruits with 1 seed in the middle and the papery texture around it becomes orange and red, before turning brown, quite quirky and of good ornamental value. Easy to grow, hardy. It was discovered in the late 19th century and introduced to Britain shortly after, but never got propagated in large numbers, although a good, tolerant plant. It is worth a try, if you want something interesting, not for sale in your local garden centre.
