Description:

A rarely offered species. This elegant, slender-leaved oak with attractive foliage and large acorns occurs in Syria and Asia Minor. It is similar to Q. castaneifolia but its acorns are very large (up to 5cm long and 4cm wide!). Its beautifully shaped leaves turn to yellow in Autumn and stay on the plant during Winter. Can be pruned heavily (reducing its strong growth), and also makes a good, rare bonsai. Can be grown as an unusal hedge, or kept on the patio in a large pot.
